Skin irritation due to incontinence
Incontinence increases the risk of developing skin irritation. Incontinence may disrupt normal skin pH because urine may be acidic or alkaline. Prolonged perineal exposure to urine moisture or fecal matter builds bacterial growth. Adult diapers can also cause skin rash called “diaper rash”.
